OneClickSWMS is a drafting tool, not safety advice. We use AI (Google Gemini) and our own templates to help you draft Safe Work Method Statements. AI can get things wrong, miss hazards that are specific to your site, or suggest controls that don't fit. Nothing in OneClickSWMS is legal, engineering or WHS advice, and using it doesn't make a SWMS compliant with any law.

What the law asks of the business doing the work. A SWMS is required before high-risk construction work starts. It must identify the high-risk work, its hazards and risks, the control measures, and how the controls will be put in place, monitored and reviewed (for example, Model WHS Regulations r 299; in Victoria, OHS Regulations 2017 r 324). The business doing the work (the PCBU, or in Victoria the employer or self-employed person) must prepare it for the actual site, consult the workers (and their health and safety representative, if they have one), make sure the work follows it, review it when things change (in Victoria also when a health and safety representative asks), and keep it until the work is finished — and, outside Victoria, for at least 2 years after any notifiable incident.

What you must do with every OneClickSWMS draft.

  1. Check every hazard and control against your job, your site and your equipment.
  2. Talk it through with the workers who'll do the work and change it if they raise issues.
  3. Make sure it's written so your workers can understand it.
  4. Review and revise it when the work, site or controls change.
  5. Keep your own copy.

Worker sign-offs. A sign-off records that a worker was given the SWMS and said they understood it. No WHS law requires a signature on a SWMS, and a sign-off doesn't replace consultation, training or supervision. We don't verify the identity of people who sign.

Our part. We take reasonable care in building, testing and reviewing our templates and AI instructions, and we work to correct problems we find or that you report. If you spot an error in a template or draft, use "Report a problem" in the editor or email support@oneclickswms.com.au.
